I am a bankruptcy attorney with over 40 years experience. I’m a magna cum laude graduate of Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and a licensed California attorney. I’ve worked for some of the best bankruptcy firms in Southern California. The Bankruptcy Sage website offers help to anyone considering bankruptcy.
I tried retirement for a few years and then took up writing to keep myself busy during the pandemic. But like most aspiring writers, I quickly found out that earning a living writing is easier said than done. I still do a lot of writing. I even get paid for some of it – researching and writing blog posts and other things for other lawyers and businesses. But now I’m using my skills to help people navigate the bankruptcy process.
I am marrying my legal experience and my love of writing into one enterprise. This website and the blog posts are here to help people with financial problems figure out how to get out of a difficult situation. Should they file bankruptcy? Do they need an attorney? Is there a way I can help them file without the expense of an attorney?
There are lots of paralegal services around that help people fill out the paperwork, but they are not lawyers so they can’t give you advice. They can’t even tell you what assets to list (all of them), what exemptions you’re entitled to take (it depends), or whether you need to reaffirm a particular debt (probably not).
There is so much that I know and can use to help you navigate the bankruptcy process including, because I’m a lawyer, helpful advice. I won’t represent you when you file, but I will guide you through the process, answer your questions, and cost you less money than you might otherwise spend. Plus, I can make the whole process easier.
On the personal side, I live in Santa Barbara, California. I’m a widow (twice over) and have a rescue pup named Woody (a Jack Russell Terrier/Dachshund mix). When I’m not working, I enjoy writing articles for Medium, home remodeling shows, working on my own fixer upper, yoga, cooking (I’ve got a side hustle as a “personal chef”), gardening, reading historical novels and doing crossword puzzles. I have a screenplay in the works and I self-published a memoir a few years back. Except for a couple of years in Las Vegas and a couple in Colorado Springs, I’ve lived in California all my life.
My business name is Martha Warriner Jarrett Consulting.
I look forward to helping you and hope that you find this blog useful. Contact me (see form) if you would like to set up a free consultation. Be sure to include your phone number in your message.
